Overview
StreeVendors is a social impact marketplace developed during the SheBuilds Hackathon 2023, where our 4-member team designed, developed, and delivered a fully functional web application within 36 hours. The project was recognized with a Special Mention for its innovation, technical implementation, and meaningful social impact.
The platform empowers women-owned local businesses by providing them with a digital marketplace to showcase their products and connect with customers who actively support local entrepreneurs. Rather than building just another e-commerce platform, our goal was to create technology that promotes financial independence and increases the visibility of women-led businesses.
To deliver a polished MVP within the hackathon timeframe, we combined a modern React frontend with Appwrite's Backend-as-a-Service capabilities, enabling us to focus on creating an engaging user experience while minimizing backend complexity.

Store & User ManagementMajor Challenges
Building a Complete Product Within 36 Hours
The primary challenge was transforming an idea into a polished and functional MVP while working under the strict 36-hour hackathon deadline.
Solution
The team divided responsibilities across frontend development, authentication, UI/UX, and application development. Modular component development and continuous collaboration allowed multiple features to be developed simultaneously, enabling us to deliver a complete solution before submission.
Creating an Accessible Marketplace
The application needed to provide a simple experience for both business owners registering their stores and customers discovering local vendors.
Solution
Designed reusable React components with Tailwind CSS, ensuring responsive layouts, intuitive navigation, and an easy onboarding experience across devices.
Implementing Secure User Authentication
Providing a secure authentication system without spending significant development time on backend implementation was essential.
